The Big River Rangers shot our first match on the first
Saturday of August  2000 on the range of Terry Clifton's
Gunshop. We had a grand total of 9 shooters. We shot two
stages using only 7 targets which had to be rearranged
between stages. Today our range sits on 10 acres
dedicated solely to Cowboy Shooting. From October to
May, we shoot 6 stages. The remaining months we cut back
to 4 stages due to the heat. We now have over 100 targets
and 2 permanent building fronts. Construction of our
cowboy town,
Soapstone Creek, is now underway. When
finished, this will be a complete town with 3 permanent
building fronts, a street, and a saloon. This will provide an
almost unlimited variety of scenarios for stages.

The Big River Rangers are also active in the surrounding
communities. We have provided 3 scholarships to our
members who have graduated high school and are going
on to college. Each year at Christmas we sponsor a family
in need. We provide gifts for the children and food for
Christmas Dinner. During the aftermath of Hurricane
Katrina, we provided food for refugees at a nearby motel.

We are ever striving to improve our match, facilities, and
strengthen our membership!!
